Aesthetics (Colorful)

This past weekend, I was in Barcelona and I absolutely loved it.  I spent 3 full days there of sunshine, sight-seeing, and having a great time with great friends.  On the last day, Dana and I went to Park Guelle which was absolutely one of the most ravishing, eye-catching places I have ever seen in my life. The park expanded at least a mile of gorgeous trees, lively and bright plants, and had character from the bottom step to the very top.  But what was truly unforgettable was all the mosaic designs.

This is what I first saw upon entering...huge, shiny pillars with lush plants, people from all over and
mosaic, mosaic, mosaic.

The walls were covered in mosaic that had a strange mix of being modern yet old at the same time, and gave me a sense of calm and excitement at the same time.

I could not get over this gorgeous place with not only beautiful views but unique art.  Anyone that is in Barcelona and has the chance to go--I would definitely recommend it.

Ready For Adventure

My name is Katherine Yircott and I am 21 years old, a senior-to be at Michigan State University. Studying abroad has been something that I have been interested in since I was a little girl and my older cousins were doing it.  Especially being from a very small town, I have always wanted to branch out and see the world.  Finding out about the Literature in London study abroad opportunity seemed like the perfect chance to take, and I am so glad that I did.

I  have been in London for about 3 weeks now and I am absolutely loving every second of it, but it is seriously flying by! I have been attending classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, day trips of Wednesday, and traveling other places in Europe on the weekends.  All the while soaking up London and sightseeing here, as well as enjoying the night life with my friends.

So, about my friends...

When I previously thought of studying abroad, I thought about traveling, studying, and growing as an individual.  I had no idea that along the way I would be doing that with such amazing girls.  I have made SO many new friendships that I know will continue at Michigan State and that has been one of the most surprising but exciting elements of this trip.  I had never met my roommate, Dana, before coming to London, and now we are inseparable.  I am excited for my friends and I to continue the rest of our adventures! :)
